Nuremberg – With its new defense system “Cicada”, the Nuremberg armaments group fights Diehl Defense Slowly flying drones highly effective. A high -speed rotor accelerates the device to 200 kilometers per hour within a very short time. The on -board battery ranges for a flight duration of up to 5 minutes with a range of up to five kilometers. On the front of “Cicada” there is a radar sensor that leads the defense drone on the last meters and brings it safely.
Use in residential areas
For specific customer needs, the innovation can be equipped with additional functions, including flight planning, off -road folder and obstacle avoidance. The latter is particularly important when the “Cicada” is used in a built -up residential area. It can be worn and started by one person so that it can easily be brought into cramped areas.
Usually the starting scaffolding is attached to a vehicle that quickly brings “Cicada” to the scene. In 2026 the system should be available on the market. Among other things, the missile is traded as a possible option for the second armament of the “Skyranger” of the Bundeswehr’s “Skyranger” bottle armor, so speculations on the Hartpunkt.de defense technology platform. According to insiders, “Cicada” should also be tested on a frigate.
