Berlin – feasting, shopping, marveling – the Green Week in Berlin has been a crowd puller for almost 100 years. From January 17th to 26th, 2025, the leading global trade fair for food, agriculture and horticulture will once again attract around 300,000 guests from all over the world. 1,400 Exhibitor present themselves in 28 halls on around 119,000 square meters of space – an event of superlatives.
One of the attractions of the Green Week is: Adventure farm (Hall 3.2). Here visitors can find out first hand how agriculture works today. Under the motto “Secure nutrition. Protect nature.” 4 future paths invite you to take part. Topics include animals, technology, nature and soil.
Small downside: Because of foot and mouth disease, there are… Animal hall (Hall 25) no cattle, sheep and goats to be seen. This time the focus is on the horses, for example with the tournament Hippologica. Dogs and cats, bees and ornamental fish are waiting in the pet hall 26.
Exotic dishes from all over the world – delicious things from German regions
Swedish birch sap, Estonian strawberry roses, corn sap from Peru: Green Week is once again attracting visitors this year culinary trip around the world (various halls). 60 countries from 5 continents are represented. Special highlight: Ukraine is presenting itself with a 500 square meter stand.
Germany also shines with culinary diversity: The 16 federal states (various halls) present their cuisine and put their regional specialties in the spotlight, from the classic Thuringian dumplings to creative innovations such as roasted potatoes with kale pesto from Lower Saxony.
Trade and industry stands – ideas for sustainable living
The food trade is prominently represented by the Schwarz Group (Lidl), Rewe and Edeka. The Joint stand of the Federal Association of the German Food Industry (BVE) and the German Food Association is all about the motto “The future tastes good”.
If you are looking for inspiration for a sustainable lifestyle, you should Theme world “experience green” (Hall 27). There, for example, the Re-Use Superstore of the Berlin Senate Environment Administration shows projects and services related to waste avoidance, food saving and sustainable fashion.
The “Home Green Home” stage – new “Free From” trade fair area
The program is right next door “Home Green Home” (Hall 27) with live cooking, quiz and talk shows, games and e-sports as well as start-up days. Here, founders from the agtech and food sectors present ideas for a greener future – and compete against each other.
Even in the popular one Street food area (Hall 1.2a) things are going innovative again. For the first time, the public can visit the new “Free From” exhibition area, which appeals to allergy sufferers and fans of plant-based nutrition. There are gluten-free snacks as well as vegan delicacies here.
Organic farming and specialties – inspiration in the flower hall
“Organic? Of course!” is the motto in Hall 22a – organic farming is presented there with products that contribute to biodiversity, climate protection and species-appropriate animal husbandry. Trade fair guests can taste and buy organic specialties and take part in a digital indoor rally.
There is also a feast for the eyes: under the motto “Blütenkiez Berlin” urban flair is created Flower Hall (2.2a). Bright flowers give city elements such as traffic signs a colorful look. The Theme world “Garden, House & Yard” inspires a stylish home.
Discover apprenticeships – World Forum of Nutrition Experts
Experience professional worlds up close – that’s what young people can do “young generation hub”. The focus here is on 80 traditional and modern training occupations. Under the motto “grab it and try it out”, teenagers pick up their own tools and plant, saw, hammer and design.
Green Week is also a must for experts in the global nutrition industry: various congresses attract thousands of participants. Above all, that Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) from January 15th to 18th. Around 70 agriculture ministers from all over the world will also be there to discuss the matter.
Green Week 2025: Tickets and opening times
You can get tickets for Green Week online. It is best for visitors to book tickets at www.gruenewoche.de/de/visit/tickets. You can also buy your online admission ticket at a terminal on site. Cash payment is not possible.
The trade fair opens its doors from January 17th to 26th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Friday, January 24th, the opening hours of the Green Week are extended until 8 p.m.
